The Catawba Falls trail will close on May 2, 2022, and remain closed until spring of 2023. The popular Old Fort area trail will be closed for 9-12 months to ensure the safety of the public and construction crews building retaining walls, boardwalks, staircases, and overlooks. Davidson's Fort Historic Park

Davidson's Fort was once the western most outpost in Colonial America. The fort was originally constructed in 1776 with the assistance of troops provided by General Griffith Rutherford. Today, a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization has constructed a replica of the historic fort to interpret the pioneer-era history of Old Fort and the surrounding area.  The fort is open the third Saturday each month between 9:00 am and noon, and for specially scheduled events.  Admission is by donation. Visit http://www.davidsonsforthistoricpark.com for more information.
