Two local favorite events return to the town of Old Fort this April, and a new bike event makes its debut! Check the Blue Ridge Traveler events calendar for more upcoming festivals and events this spring.
Pioneer Day at the Mountain Gateway Museum - April 30
Watch the past come to life before your eyes at the Mountain Gateway Museum from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 30.
This free, family-friendly event celebrates the pioneer heritage of Western North Carolina and features regional music, food and local vendors, plus demonstrations of heritage crafts of all kinds.
Mountain Thunder Car Show - April 30
Join the Route 70 Cruisers for their annual car show, located on the campus of Aria Manufacturing from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 30.
The free show features 200+ unique vehicles of all sizes, years, models and descriptions. You’ll also find arts and crafts vendors, food, door prizes and live music. All proceeds from the event benefit local nonprofits. Bring the whole family!
Rock n Roller Road Cycle Ride - April 23
This brand new road cycle event begins and ends in Old Fort on Saturday, April 23, and it raises funds for the Friends of the Fonta Flora State Trail. The Rock n Roller is a fun group ride — not a race — and organizers plan to choose a different event route each year.
In 2022, cyclists can choose from two routes — the Hard Rock (65 miles with 4,500 ft of climbing) or the Soft Rock (21 miles with 1,350 ft of climbing). Both routes wind along country roads and include about 1 mile of gravel road. Participants can also add on a 10-mile out-and-back ride to Andrews Geyser.
This is a great training ride for the cycling season and a perfect way to check out Old Fort’s growing cycling scene. Registration is available online through April 14.
