Coming Up!

summer play list mcdowell

Warm weather is here and summer is around the corner! We can help you with outdoor plans, rainy day fun, or share special  venue ideas for your special celebrations.

Festivals!  June 1st, spend the day at Old Fort's Mountain Gateway Museum during their Annual NC Gold Festival.  Later that evening, join locals on Marion's Main Street to pick up FREE Hunter's Liver Mush sandwiches during their Annual Liver Mush Festival.

Explore the area's state parks.  There are five (5) locations within an hour of downtown Marion, NC.  Begin with Lake James State Park's Catawba Area and the larger Paddy's Creek Area.  Paddy's Creek Area includes hiking and biking trails.  Paddy's Creek Area opens the swimming beach and offers canoe/kayak rentals!

Other regional parks include Grandfather Mountain, South Mountains, Mt. Mitchell, and Chimney Rock State Parks. Each of these is open year round.  Severe weather may create unsafe conditions and the properties may temporarily close.  Call ahead.

Other outdoor adventure ideas include a day with Thrifty Adventures, The Catawba Angler, or a nice river float with Catawba River Outdoors.  You'll find contact details under the "PLAY" icon.

If you have questions or need more fun ideas, give us a call!  888-233-6111
