Fall Leaf Report #3 - October 12, 2020

The good news, we're seeing some gorgeous fall colors, earlier than predicted. Typically, rain prolongs the season, more good news!

Over the weekend, the remnants of Hurricane Delta passed over western North Carolina. Monday morning we're left with foggy conditions along the Blue Ridge Parkway where our attention was drawn to shades of yellow, orange, and red.

This image was taken from a Parkway overlook between Linville Falls and the Bear Den Overlook at Milepost 323. The north-facing view is stunning. The areas north of Milepost 320 are expected to peak around October 15th.

Further south, between Mileposts 326 and 334, colors are developing. When you pull over at a south-facing viewshed, you'll notice more green hues with reds and oranges dusting the mountaintops. This section, Linville Falls to Little Switzerland, may have another week or so before peaking.

Because our elevations vary greatly, leaf season typically lasts 3-4 weeks, and we'll help you find the best places to enjoy the views. Of course, the mountains are amazing year-round. Call us, we're here to help. 828-668-4282
