June 2nd - Liver Mush and Gold!


Spend the day learning and exploring in and around Marion and Old Fort, NC!  In Old Fort, (10:00 am to 4:00 pm) visit with educators from The Reed Gold Mine, Historic Bechtler House Museum and Gold Hill to learn about our state's gold history and the legacy of the Bechtler family in western North Carolina.  Mountain Gateway Museum's indoor exhibits include a Bechtler coin display!  Musical entertainment is all day long, ending with a 2:00 pm performance from a national favorite, country music parody comedian, Cledus T. Judd!  Admission is FREE.

Don't forget to stop by McDowell County's only authentic gold mine, the Lucky Strike Gold and Gem Mine.  They're hosting a celebration of their own with gold demonstrations, panning and more.  

Marion's 12th Annual Liver Mush Festival shuts down Main Street where you'll find FREE Hunter's Liver Mush Sandwiches, musical performers, contests and more.  Free admission, stop by between 5:00 pm and 9:00 pm.
