Happy Friday ya'll! Here's the good news, we're experiencing an "extended" fall leaf season.
This week's weather brought cool nights and warm days, ideal conditions for leaves to change their colors! Driving the Blue Ridge Parkway, between Linville Falls and Crabtree Falls, overlooks open to "mixed" views of yellows, oranges, greens and reds. However, that region is not yet at peak color. This area of the Parkway, in the Little Switzerland region, may peak within the next few days/week. Keep returning!
The lower elevations, are estimated to peak during the first week to ten days of November. More good news!
So, over the next few days, take a day trip to the Blue Ridge Parkway driving north of Linville Falls to Grandfather Mountain to see fuller, brighter colors. Next weekend, visit the region south of Linville and over to Mt. Mitchell State Park. After that, drive our roads including the Devil's Whip, aka NC Highway 80, the Lake James Loop and NC Highway 126 and Bat Cave Road, outside Old Fort to Lake Lure/Chimney Rock.
