The Catawba Falls trail will close on May 2, 2022, and remain closed until spring of 2023. The popular Old Fort area trail will be closed for 9-12 months to ensure the safety of the public and construction crews building retaining walls, boardwalks, staircases, and overlooks. Snook's Nose Trail

This is a rocky, single track path used by hikers and mountain biking enthusiasts.  Trail crosses Slick Falls Branch climbing steeply within one mile, passing rock outcroppings on right.  Winding switchbacks narrow along rocky ridge with views, views, views.  From downtown Old Fort, take U.S. 70 east approximately 1.8 miles turning left onto Curtis Creek Road.  Driving approximately 5 miles to Curtis Creek Campground.  Trailhead is on left 0.4 miles beyond campground.  Between November and April, park at locked gate to walk to trailhead.  Campground is closed these months.  This is a 4 mile, strenuous loop.
