We enjoy a large section of the Blue Ridge Parkway between Milepost 312 and Milepost 355. Explore this diverse area of the Pisgah National Forest where you'll discover hiking trails, waterfalls, and the Little Switzerland community.
More than one hundred years ago, the Little Switzerland community was created as a seasonal, second home venue for Charlotte area residents. Not much has changed since Judge Herriot Clarkson began to realize his dream. The original deed restrictions kept the properties from heavy residential and commercial development. Add these to the list, Little Switzerland Books and Beans, the Switzerland Cafe and General Store, the ALLS Gallery, Emerald Village, and the shops at the Switzerland Inn. Most businesses are open between late April through the end of October. Call ahead to confirm hours.
In addition to individually owned homes found on AirBnb/VRBO, spend some time with us by reserving time at one of our well known lodging properties. Options include Linville Falls Lodge and Cabins (take the exit at US 221 intersection/MP 317.5), Bear Den Campground and Cabins, Big Lynn Lodge (take the exit at NC 226-A/Little Switzerland MP 334), Switzerland Inn, Alpine Inn (MP 334 exit at Little Switzerland), and Skyline Village Inn at MP 331 exit/NC 226-A.
Everyone gets out to enjoy area hiking trails, including the trails to Linville Falls, Crabtree Falls, or a day at Mt. Mitchell State Park (MP 355.4). The public trails at the Orchard at Altapass are a fun way to spend an afternoon. Coming off the trail area pick up lunch or other treats inside the Orchard barn or the Apple Core Grill. Check their website for special programs and free performances. https://www.altapassorchard.org
