En plein air ( French for 'outdoors'), or plein-air painting, is simply the act of painting outdoors. The idea is to enable the artist to better capture the changing details of weather and light.
2023 is the Year of the Trail and the 50th anniversary of the NC Trails System Act. MTA En Plein Air 2023 is a project of McDowell Trails Association (MTA) and McDowell Arts Council Association (MACA).
The event will take place in 4 parts.
