Eco-dyeing on silk-wearable art

1:30 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Arrowhead Gallery and Studios

Eco-dyeing is the art of using organic matter to create both design and color on natural fibers, such as silk, linen or cotton. Participants will be given the materials needed to create and eco-dyed silk scarf. Participants are encouraged to bring any flowers or plants with them to explore the nature of the dye that lies within. Each participant will make two scarves.

The class will be about one hour with a one hour break for steaming the scarves and 30 minutes to unwrap the work to discover the final patter. Latex gloves will need to be worn for part of this project.

$35 A3L members, $45 nonmembers, plus $15 supply fee. Call the Arrowhead Gallery at 828-668-1100 for more information.
