A few decades ago, Janet Wiseman’s dad made her promise to go out and learn the music of her southern Appalachian roots. After many more years of performing, this season she steps on stage with Mountain Lights—Buncombe Turnpike’s Tom Godleski (bass), an award-winning playwright, bandleader, and folk artist; Don Lewis (fiddle, mandolin, guitar), a longtime member of Sons of Ralph and from one of Madison County’s most famous musical families; Phil Arnold (banjo), a versatile and entertaining performer with a clear baritone voice for both lead and harmony; and Gene Holdway (guitar), folk, country, and highly talented bluegrass performer. Both Arnold and Holdway perform with the Split Rail Bluegrass Band. Please join the Orchard in welcoming this consummate performing quintet.
