The doors are now open on a new community space along Old Fort’s charming Main Street. The Catawba Vale Business HUB offers a place for local and visiting small business professionals to meet, learn and work to build their communities.
The space features artwork created by local artists, and the HUB’s coffee shop serves up N.C.-roasted Counter Culture coffee. The general public is welcome! It’s a great place to bring your laptop, order a cup of coffee and get some work done — or to meet up with a colleague for collaboration and conversation.
Thanks to a partnership with Malaprops Bookstore in nearby Asheville, the Catawba Vale Business HUB offers a curated selection of books focused on authors of color. Find works by Maya Angelou and Stacey Abrams, plus poetry, history and children’s books.
Step outside the building to appreciate a vibrant depiction of two events in the history of Old Fort’s fight for civil rights. The “Old Fort Together” mural was painted by artist Don Rimx and celebrates community leaders who worked to integrate local schools.
The Catawba Vale Business HUB is a program of Eagle Market Streets Development Corp., a nonprofit organization that serves the local community through business development. The organization has also recently partnered with other community groups to launch the Old Fort Trails Project, bringing miles of new hiking and biking trails to the area.
